We’re BAAAACCCKKK!! We enjoyed our break, although always too short as you know…but are refreshed and ready to cook some of our classic dishes and bring you some new ones. Pre-orders for our lunches and suppers are always recommended; as you know, we have a zero food-waste policy here in the kitchen, and Chef Casey personally shops for and hand picks every single ingredient for use in our kitchen, buying only what is necessary for that week’s menu and a bit extra in case of last minute orders. But that’s it…when it’s gone, IT IS GONE. To avoid disappointment, please feel free to reserve your dishes early – not only does it ensure you get the meal you are looking for; it also helps with our meal prep and shopping trips.
WE’VE GOT YOUR BBQ NEEDS COVERED:
Fresh Market Kitchen is pleased to remind you that our BBQ @ Home Packs are available for pickup from our Market Kitchen. As always, our Triple B Burgers (beef brisket and bacon, GF) and our Classic 1/2 LB Beef patties will also be available! We also have frozen kaisers from our favourite Italian bakery in packs of 4 available. Click this link to get there quickly…https://freshmarketkitchen.ca/product-category/bbq-at-home/
All Things Bagel!
We love that you are enjoying the handmade bagels we carry from The Bagel Oven based in Beamsville, Ontario. This is a family-run business that specializes in handmade authentic Jewish bagels. To complement your bagels, we are also offering European cream cheese and delicious homemade hummus. Chef Casey makes her hummus with dried chick peas and the highest quality tahini available. If you know you’d like a larger volume of bagels for the week ahead, please get in touch asap so we can preorder those for you from The Bagel Oven and have them delivered fresh to our kitchen just for you for pickup Saturday. In the meantime, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (while supplies last), shop our Market Kitchen and purchase freshly-frozen bagels for your home and save $1 per bag! You will find out what is in stock currently in our freezer and reserve yours for convenient pickup here…https://freshmarketkitchen.ca/product-category/bagelsandtarts/
We are offering single toasted bagels with our European cream cheese – available 11 AM – 2:00 PM Wednesday through Saturday. Grab a delicious and quick bite on the go! $3.50 each.
Get Caffeinated at Fresh Market Kitchen!
Fresh Market Kitchen has teamed up with Altitude Coffee Roasters to proudly bring you fair trade, organic ground brew-at-home coffee that is roasted in Vienna, Ontario. Altitude Coffee Roasters constantly gives back to local communities and are committed to being an environmental champion in their industry while pledging to roast only the highest quality beans and provide only the freshest coffee. You can browse our selection and reserve yours online through our website here: https://freshmarketkitchen.ca/product-category/at-home-coffee/ We are so thrilled with the quality of these coffees that we are exclusively serving Altitude Coffee Roasters’ brewed coffee in our Market Kitchen. Drop in and try a cup for yourself. We can even brew you a decaf latte or cappuccino from our new cappuccino machine!!!
What’s New In Our Kitchen?
After a week of “vacation” this past week, Chef Casey had some time to develop a couple of beverages, and many came to purchase and give these new drinks a try! The favourite, by a landslide this weekend, was the Birthday Cake Frappuccino! A Frappuccino is a blended ice beverage with flavourings that make you think you are drinking a birthday cake, topped with housemade vanilla whipped cream, “lah-dee-dahs” (sprinkles) and a delicious maraschino cherry – refreshing as heck and can be made with milk substitutions such as coconut milk, soy beverage and almond milk (hold the whip)! Try a Java Chip, made with our housemade coffee ice cubes and chocolate….I’ll just let that sink in for a minute…

Our Barista, Mack, featured Passion Tea Lemonade this Saturday in our Market Kitchen, and it will become a regular beverage choice in our kitchen daily. This beverage is made in-house with brewed Passion Tea, homemade lemonade and shaken (not stirred) with ice. Don’t forget, we also have Iced Coffee made with Altitude Coffee Roasters’ house-brewed coffee. I wonder what Mack will be featuring this coming Saturday in the Market Kitchen?

Did you get a Flakie this past Saturday? These puff pastry delights are made in-house, currently available in three flavours (Ontario Peach, Quebec Wild Blueberry, Raspberry) and are generously filled with our housemade vanilla whipped cream with a lovely sprinkling of powdered sugar. As we never make our whipped cream with animal-based stabilizers thus maintaining a vegetarian food item, these are only offered on a Saturday, but we will do our best to allow preorders of Flakies.

Also New!! Beginning this week, Saturday (May 8th), we will be offering a Saturday Lunch House Burger Feature, served 12-2 pm. As long as the wind is not blowing us sideways off our corner outside, Chef Casey will be at the outdoor grill, cooking our featured housemade burger to order! Reservations are not necessary, however, probably a good idea to avoid disappointment. So grab yourself a delicious beverage, a buttertart or two (or six? we don’t judge and, hey, why not get 6 and save the tax!) or a housemade Flakie and stay for lunch! Although we don’t have outside seating, there is on-street parking and I’m pretty sure most of us are getting pretty used to dining “en-auto” with the ever-changing Covid restrictions.
Saturdays seem to be shaping up to be pretty exciting days in our Market Kitchen – plan your weekly shop around our market and be sure to stop by. It is always #worththedrivetoselkirk

One last thing before we get to the menu this week…I wanted to say a huge Welcome Back to our Lynda…She has been off this past month taking care of some family business. Please join me in welcoming Lynda back to our Market Kitchen counter. Her friendly smile and bubbly personality have been very noticeably missing from our kitchen. Glad to have you home, Lynda xoxo
